Adam Berry's photo features in new Canon Australia visa campaign

A spectacular image of a woman leaping across two boulders has caught the attention of a national company bringing fame to country-based photographer Adam Berry.

The 22-year-old Naracoorte man explained that the photo he took in Tasmania back in 2018 is now being used as a hero piece for Canon Australia's new visa cashback campaign.

"The image was taken at the Bay of Fires (Binalong) ... with no intention of ever making money from it," he told Naracoorte Herald.

"Two years later Cannon slides into my Instagram DM's (direct messages) and here we are."

After a few emails and a phone call, a contract for a non-exclusive license to use the image for both social media and point of sale advertising was signed.

Mr Berry recalled the time and location of the now-famous photo shoot. "We had been camping in a van for about a week at this point, with fairly consistent snow and rain, and decided to treat ourselves to a night at a caravan park," he said.

"We headed straight for the Bay of Fires for sunset that night, but were met by nothing but dark skies." With no other choice, due to a tight travel schedule, Mr Berry decided to head out early the following morning to catch the sun peeking over the horizon.

"And it was definitely worth the early alarm," he said.

"The most difficult part of the shot was convincing (the model) that she wasn't going to fall between the rocks.

"The rest of the credit goes to mother nature."

Photography has been a hobby of Mr Berry's for the past five years.

"I've always been a creative person with a passion for nature and seeing the world, so it was the perfect way to combine those interests," he explained.

Mr Berry began snapping photos on his phone, then his mum's (Trina) camera, until he decided to invest in a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) model.

"To fund this, I began taking portraits which led to weddings and some commercial clients," he explained.

His sights are now set on taking his photography business on the road.

"I plan to travel around the country taking photos until I decide to try something else...or run out of money," he admitted.
