Police allege drink driver tops 209km/h

SA Police have reported a man for speeding at 209km/h in a 110km/h zone after they stopped a car on the Sturt Highway, west of Nuriootpa on Sunday, May 17.

During driving detection activities being carried out on the highway, police will allege that about 9.15pm in Greenock, the driver of a Hyundai Elantra sedan was found to be doing 99km/h over the speed limit.

Police spoke to the driver, a 26-year-old Renmark man, and breath-tested him where he allegedly returned a blood-acohol result of 0.130.

The man was reported for driving at a speed dangerous and drink driving, lost his licence on the sport for six months and had the car impounded for 28 days.

He will appear in court at a later date.
