As the world reels from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Barossa is forced to navigate quarantine-mode, a brand new delivery service has emerged.
Agora Gourmet Market is here for locals to support locals and is the brainchild of Denham D'Silva.
Mr D'Silva, founder of Barossa Valley Brewing, shared how agora means gathering place.
The new market has been designed to keep local producers in business and foster a new sense of unity, connection and hope among the tight-knit community.
Agora Gourmet Market will provide delivery from the farm door to the front door of Barossa residents, to enable the community to continue supporting the local producers and artisans it adores.
"March 8 was a terrible day," Mr D'Silva said. "One minute I'm serving customers, the next I'm shutting doors indefinitely," he said.
His immediate concern was for his staff.
"But far from being mad or scared, they were concerned for me and my family," he said.
He shared how it was "a stark irony" that in order to stop the spread of the virus, businesses would need to unite.
Yet he understands that a need to address the pandemic, businesses would need to connect.
"We did a trial run for Agora last weekend and it was hugely successful," he said.
"So now we are ready to launch this new delivery service, to help the incredible artisans and producers that are the very heart of our internationally acclaimed region."
An online launch party is planned for April 18.
The virtual party will include one of the founding producers Free Genie - a popular local musical duo who will be live streaming music.
