Four outstanding individuals, who have been assisting the Barossa community's transport needs for decades, have been recognised with long service awards.

John Neldner, Chris Pietch, Pat Haydn - who began as community drivers in 1999 - and Kym Dutschke, who began in January 2009, accepted their awards at a ceremony late last year.

These four volunteers are part of a 66 person active roster of dedicated local volunteers.

The annual Community Transport Christmas party was hosted by the Barossa Council where Deputy Mayor Leonie Boothby presented the four long-service awards.

In 2019, community volunteers managed to clock up almost 8,000 hours and drove more than 275,000 kms.

Barossa & Light Community Transport helps people in our community get to where they need to be.

Kym Dutschke received a 10 year commendation after beginning his volunteering in January 2009.

John Neldner and Pat Haydn, who began in October 1999, each received a 20 year award. Chris Pietch started volunteering in August 1999 and also received a 20 year award.
