Two youths have been arrested after crashing a stolen car at Gawler on Friday afternoon.

As a result a teenager is expected to be refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court on Monday, January 13.

A 12-year-old boy is expected to be granted bail to appear in court at a later date.

SA Police reveal that just after 2.15pm on January 10 officers were called to a Gawler address after a victim reported her red Suzuki Ignis sedan had been stolen from her carport.

A few minutes later officers were advised that the stolen car had allegedly been involved in a petrol theft at a nearby petrol station on Murray Street.

Just before 2.30pm police noticed the stolen red Suzuki stuck in traffic on Murray Street.

Police approached the vehicle on foot and the driver of the car attempted to drive off only to hit the handrails at a pedestrian crossing.

Two youths exited the vehicle and ran west, heading towards Apex Park.

Members of the public and patrols chased the offenders and they were arrested a short distance away.

The 14-year-old and 12-year-old were charged with illegal use, making off without without payment and driving dangerously.
