It was a rain delayed start for the Gawler Petanque Club on Sunday, 1 December.

However, when play did start it was a very close game between Stan Wilson and John Ingram against David Willis and Glenis Head.

Both teams were scoring ones and twos, to reach 5 points each.

The low scoring continued till they were again both level on 8 points.

Some good play by Stan and John brought them up to 10 points, but David and Glenis again caught up.

One point each saw them on 11-all, but David was able to score two points to give him and Glenis the winning score of 13 points to 11.

Unfortunately, John had to leave so Glenis, Stan and David played a game of singles.

David got off to a good start, soon having a score of 5 points, with Stan on 2 and Glenis on 0.

Over the next few ends Stan and Glenis started to improve their scores but were having a struggle to catch up to David.

Glenis was able to do some excellent pointing and bring her score closer to David, but Stan was struggling to keep up.

With the scores at 8 for Stan, David and Glenis were equal on 12 points each, needing one point to win.

For a short time, Glenis was holding the winning point, but David managed to edge her boule out and take the point to become the winner.

The club meets at Hallam Drive, Gawler, from 10.15am.

Everyone is welcome to come and try.
