A Gawler East man has been charged over four robberies in the metropolitan area, targeting fast food restaurants and a video rental store.

Police will allege that between September and October 2012, a 42-year-old man from Gawler East threatened staff and stole money from three restaurants at Salisbury, Para Hills and Richmond, and a video store at Paralowie.

Further investigations by the Serious and Organised Crime Branch led to Tuesday's arrest of the suspect.

He has been charged with four counts of aggravated robbery, and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on December 11.
