Over the past twelve months the Kapunda-Eudunda Meals on Wheels (MoW) service has continued to provide wonderful support to people who, for various reasons, find they are unable to easily meet their required dietary needs.
The local MoW fills this gap.
At the recent AGM held in Kapunda, Chairperson Megan McWaters, thanked the volunteers for their support and acknowledged the work of the Kapunda Hospital staff who prepare the meals for distribution.
Said Megan, "This service is more than just the serving of a meal. It is also a valuable contact for many people who are not as mobile as they would like to be".
Megan also praised the work of the committee in organising the Volunteers Roster, the Christmas and Mid-year luncheons and for participation in the Wohlers High Tea occasions.
During the year a number of volunteers had been acknowledged for their long service with Awards being presented at the Mid-Year luncheon by Mr Brenton Dawkins from Meals on Wheels Headquarters.
Attracting and keeping volunteers is a constant challenge and Volunteers Co-ordinator Lucy Bashford reported that although they had gained three new volunteers, three had left the service, due to health reasons or the pull of other demands.
Members of the public are invited to contact Lucy on 0408 827 529 if they feel they could help with this valuable service.
The election of officers for the 2019-20 year was conducted with many members willing to again take on positions on the Committee. The following were elected: Chairperson - Megan McWaters, Vice Chairperson - Joanne Dickson, Treasurer - Hazel Norris, Secretary Michelle Sutherland, Volunteers Co-Ordinator - Lucy Bashford, Client Service Officers - Jan Lewis and Pauline Wilson, Eudunda CSO - Lorraine Manos, Assistant CSOs - Kerby Thorburn and Joanne Dickson, Public Relations - Moira Smith, Press Liaison - Anne Hornsey. Committee: All office-bearers and Eudunda Reps - Joan Latz and Bev Regnier.
