Town of Gawler Mayor Karen Redman invites primary school students from reception to year 5 who live in the council zone to draw or paint a Christmas scene they feel best reflects Christmas.

Winning entries will be printed onto Christmas cards with the student's name, year and school printed on the inside of the card.

Ms Redman will use the personal Christmas cards this year, she says, to showcase the wonderful and talented children of Gawler.

Council has once again partnered with Gawler Books for the competition with winners receiving gift vouchers.

In addition, participating schools will receive a bundle of books from the generous business.

There are three categories:

  • Category 1 - reception and year 1
  • Category 2 - year 2 and 3
  • Category 3 - year 4 and 5

First, second and third prizes will be awarded to each category.

Mayor Redman is also excited to announce that "...entries will also be showcased in main street business shop fronts, bringing an increased Christmas presence to Gawler".

Winning entrants, their parents/care givers, and a school representative will be invited to an awards ceremony to receive their prize.

Entries close Friday, September 27
