The Sturt Highway remains closed following a double fatality at Truro on Thursday.

It remains closed between Truro and Blanchetown and is expected to open later this morning.

There are currently diversions in place at Blanchetown and at the Eudunda turn off.

SA Police ask motorists to please avoid the area.

Meanwhile, just after 11.30am on August 8, police and emergency services crews were called to the Sturt Highway about 500 metres east of Stonefield Road after two B-doubles crashed head-on.

CFS crews attended the scene after both trucks caught fire.

Sadly, both drivers, a 26-year-old man from the Riverland and a 64-year-old Andrews Farm man, died in the crash.

Investigators from Major Crash attended to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for information from any witnesses.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or had to take evasive action to avoid a collision, is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
