Over one hundred years of service to Meals on Wheels (MoW) was recognised at the recent Volunteers Luncheon held at the Sir John Franklin Hotel, Kapunda.
President Megan McWaters was pleased to welcome around 70 volunteers and clients to the Mid-Year Luncheon where guests heard from Mr Brenton Dawkins of Meals on Wheels headquarters.
Brenton updated those present on the progress of the new MoW facilities at Hilton that would soon be operational; incorporating "state-of-the-art" kitchens and administration areas designed with better and more efficient working conditions for staff.
The building is planned to be completed by May 2020 at an anticipated cost of $22 million.
Megan then asked Brenton to make some signification service award presentations to members of the Kapunda volunteer group.
Awards were made to the following people:
First Year Certificate
Gloria Bowden, Keith Ellis, Karen Lanning, Pauline Matters, Chris Vogt, Cynthia Jones, Pauline Wilson
Five Year Award
Bridget Smart, John Owen
Ten Year Award
Jill Voumard, Ann Morley.
Fifteen Year Award
Twenty-five Year Award
Forty Year Award
President McWaters thanked all Kapunda volunteers for their efforts and noted that despite there being a good core of helpers, there were still opportunities for new volunteers to become involved.
