Barossa Farmers Market host apple pie challenge

Life is what you 'bake' of it right?

That's the thought from the baker's dozen who threw all their culinary skills behind the Barossa Farmers Market Apple Pie Bake Off hosted on Saturday morning.

The annual event, judged by Vino Lokal chef Ryan Edwards, attracted a crowd of onlookers keen for a glimpse of the variety of apple pies, plus breathe in the awesome sweet smells.

According to Barossa Farmers Market general manager Elaine Ratcliffe, community response for the past two bake-offs means she and organisers will plan to run another apple pie back off in October, during the school holidays.

"Stay tuned," she said.

As for the outcome, Joylene Seppelt was announced winner in the adult section winner with runner-up Julie Donnellan.

In the kid's division, Stockwell's Kailee Will-Maywald, 10, tied with Callie Pate.

The Barossa Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 7:30am-11:30am, at the Vintners Shed, corner of Angaston and Stockwell Roads, Angaston.
