The guest speaker at the last meeting of the German speaking group Kaffee und Kuchen was Tanunda Liedertafel stalwart Paul Schluter.
Paul has attended Kaffee und Kuchen meetings since they began in 2015 and has become appreciated for his good humour and unique sense of humour.
He spoke of his childhood and youth in Germany.
He was born in a small town in Westphalia, conveniently close to Bonn, the capital of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) as his school class was invited to visit the city, where they met the country's leader, the Chancellor.
Paul went on to study office management. He worked in a solicitor's office before his employment by a large publishing company.
His sense of adventure saw him cycle with a friend through parts of western Europe. They cycled through Germany, Holland, France and Italy, before returning home from northern Italy.
The next Kaffee und Kuchen meeting will be held at the Langmeil Centre, 7 Maria Street, Tanunda, on Monday, 24 June, starting at 1 pm.
