Another big week at Kidman Links for local members with good fields across all competitions.
The ladies had a good turnout for the Prince of Wales stroke round and visiting member from the Barossa, Jan Hoffman, had the best round of her playing career to finish with a net 72 and a win over the locals. Carolyn Koch was the best of the local girls a couple of shots behind.
Another 40 players turned up on Thursday for a stableford round with Grant Richardson having a good round and a win by the narrowest of margins.
His 40 points was good enough over Darrell Davies with Dean Butler a shot further back and Terry Harris had 37 points.
The long weekend saw a good field of 70 tee off in another stableford comp on the Saturday.
Big hitting Kyle Coad had the best score of the day, matching the leading score from Thursday with 40 points.
He had a two shot lead in the A grade over Daniel law who had a par score off the stick to continue his great run of form.
Vice Captain Leigh Durdin had a nice 37 points and the trio of Wayne Morris, Tom Smith and Les Grafton all had 36 in the top grade.
Terry Fidler had 39 points in the B grade, leading to a one shot lead over Greg Jones, with Boo Menzel and Wayno Skinner back on 36. 39 points was also the top score in the C grade, compiled by Wayne Harvey who is getting more familiar with the local layout.
Garry King was a couple back, as was veteran Geoff Zerk behind Garry. A dozen players took the opportunity to have an extra hit on the holiday Monday in pretty good conditions.
Ryan Allen was back in town on the day and he matched Boo Menzel at the top of the field with 38 points.
Unfortunately for Ryan, Brian had the better of the countback.
Kiwi had 37 points with Craig Sutho and Leigh Durdin carding 36 apiece.
This Saturday will be a par comp and the 3rd round of the Hayward memorial trophy. For those who have fond memories of the old scrapes, Morgan Open is on on Sunday and makes for a great social day out.
Bert might be looking for a couple of eager players to make up an ambrose team if you are interested.
The lads from Swan Reach have announced their Open Day will be on the 14th July for a 27 hole comp. and after a good roll up for our Open it would be nice to pencil in the date to reciprocate.
Past experience is that it is a great day and the food supplied will be magnificent.
