An enthusiastic group of volunteers has accepted the challenge of taking on the management of the Kapunda Community Thrift Shop.
This comes after the retirement of the long-standing committee which has been under the leadership of Rae Reichelt and Di Ellis since 2010.
Camille Parks, Jan Sheldon and Jenny Colledge will now shoulder the task of co-ordinating the Thrift Shop activities, along with help from the current group of volunteers.
Celebrating at their annual morning tea last Thursday, the Kapunda Community Thrift Shop volunteers were pleased to again make significant donations to other community groups in Kapunda.
Among the list of the many recipients were the Kapunda Kindergarten, Kapunda Hospital, Kapunda High School Centenary Foundation, Kapunda Primary School, Allen Creek Ladies Fellowship, Bethel Church, Kapunda Lions Club, St Rose's Catholic Church, Anglican Ladies Fellowship, St John's Lutheran Ladies, Uniting Church Fellowship, and the Kapunda CWA.
Since 2010 the Thrift Shop has contributed $195,000 back into the Kapunda community - a wonderful effort from a dedicated group of volunteers.
On behalf of the Thrift Shop Mrs Ellis thanked all the volunteers who had been involved over the long period of time the Shop has operated, including under the management of Shirley Mellor.
Special mention was made of Iris Ellis who had been a volunteer for over twenty years.
Mrs Ellis welcomed the "new team" and thanked them for their willingness to take on the job of keeping the Thrift Shop going.
Mrs Parks thanked everyone for their input into making the transition run smoothly and praised the outgoing committee on their tireless efforts over many years.
Thanks was extended to the St Johns ladies for co-ordinating the delicious morning tea in the Kapunda Lutheran Church Hall.
