The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market held their third and most successful Tasting Australia Regional Event, 'Experience the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market' on Saturday.
The event began with a short tour of the market facilities with some market and local history thrown in.
This included the interesting piece of history about the market hall, which is 118 years old, and how it was dismantled and moved to its current site 50 years ago.
After the tour experience patrons were offered a sit down four course tasting plate menu, including entree, mains, dessert, cheese and greens all sourced from the producers of the market.
Participants and Mount Pleasant residents Bob and Wanda Myers shared how the efforts this year 'lifted the bar' for a Tasting Australia event of its kind even higher than in 2018.
"And in saying 'of its kind', we can't imagine that it would have 'competitors' as it has so many unique features," the couple shared.
"The event is staged in a pop-up restaurant at the Farmers Market/Show Shed which is both powerfully symbiotic and synergistic.
"The Farmers Market Tasting Australia event has developed its own gourmet style to establish itself...a credit to the producer-stallholders and 'the chefs," the Myers added.
Marketing manager Terese Stephens said from inception, the Tasting Australia regional event was intended to showcase the diverse range of quality produce available at the farmers market.
"This event certainly has built that reputation for the farmers market, and with this years' successful experience, it once again surpassed all diners' expectations of locality, quality and range from the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market."
The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am-noon and located at the Mount Pleasant Showgrounds.
In addition, a special Easter Twilight will be held this Thursday, April 18 from 5pm to 9pm.
A great chance for market-goers to stock up on regional offerings for the holiday period.
There will be no market held on Easter Saturday.
