The active members from the Towitta Indoor Bowling Club were bowled over on Wednesday when Chaffey MP Tim Whetstone dropped in for a visit.

Mr Whetstone was keen to present an Active Club Grant certificate for $3860 to members.

The generous funds will be used for the purchase of new bowling equipment.

On hand to receive the certificate was Peter and Sue Grieger, Lorinda Bayley, Lyn Seidel and Karin Kleinberg.

The rural area of Towitta is located at the foot of the eastern side of the Mount Lofty Ranges about six kilometres west of Sedan.

It is a rural community commonly known for its cereal grain crops and is said to take its from Tewitty, the native name of a permanent spring nearby.

However, the club itself use the Sedan Hall as its base.

The area also made the news in January 1, 1902, following the murder of 'Bertha' Schippan, aged 13.
