The Gawler Petanque Club met at home at Hallam Drive on Sunday, March 10, and played three excellent games, although the scores don’t reflect that.
The first game was held between John Ingram, John Gejas and visitor Claire Rex against Stan Wilson and Glenis Head.
In this situation, three players against two, the three players have two boules each and the two players have three boules each.
This means that there are 12 boules in play, as in a triples game. The score after a few ends was 5-all, then after another few ends reached 8-all.
The next end gave Stan and Glenis the lead, 9-8, then they showed their excellent pointing and shooting skills to win the game by scoring 4 points and won the game 13-8.
The next game was between Stan, Claire and John Gejas versus Glenis, Deb Bald (visitor) and Deborah Ashton.
Although Deb was a visitor, she was able to show some excellent pointing, but Stan’s team were just a bit too good and won the game 13-3 points.
The final game was played between John Gejas, Deb B. and Glenis against Stan, Claire and David Willis.
This game saw some excellent pointing and shooting by both teams, and again Deb B showed her new-found skill with some very good shots, and helped her team win the game 13-6 points.
The club is scheduled to meet on Sunday, March 17, at Hallam Drive, Gawler, from 10.15am, unless the forecast temperature is 35 degrees or above.
Everyone is welcome to come and try.
