Trophies and medals presented at Gawler Petanque Club's end of year presentation

The Gawler Petanque Club met as usual at Hallam Drive on Sunday and two games were played.

The first game was between David MacKinnon with David Willis against Deborah Ashton and John Gejas, with the winners being the two Davids 13-7.

The second game saw David Willis, Stan Wilson and Mark Reardon come out winners in a short game against John Gejas, David MacKinnon and Deborah Ashton, with the scores at 13-0.

Following the games, a sausage sizzle lunch was enjoyed by all, followed by the presentation by the president Glenis Head to winners of the trophies and medals for the 2018-2019 year.

The trophy for the Best Improved was presented to Mark Reardon, who improved his scores by 43.03 per cent – well done Mark. Runners up for silver and bronze medals were Roland Pye and John Gejas respectively.

Best Average shield and gold medal went to John Gejas with an average of 11.19 over 84 games.

Runner up (silver medal) was Stan Wilson (10.11 per cent over 71 games) and third place (bronze medal) went to Roland Pye (9.98 per cent over 55 games).

The shield and gold medal for the Highest Aggregate over the year went again to John Gejas (940 /84 aggregate), silver medal was presented to Stan Wilson (716/71 games) and bronze medal to Roland Pye (549/55 games). John has won the Best Aggregate gold medal seven times over the last 13 years.

The club then held its annual general meeting.

Glenis Head was re-elected as president, Deborah Ashton was elected as secretary and Stan Wilson elected as treasurer. Mark Reardon and David Willis were also elected on to the committee.

The next meeting of the club will be on Sunday, February 17, at Hallam Drive, Gawler, from 10.15am provided the temperature is not forecast to be 35°C or over.
