At the February meeting, the first for the year, the Williamstown Garden Club held its Annual General Meeting.
A new committee was appointed with two new members: secretary Peter Griffiths and committee member Dianne Smedley.
Returning members were: chairperson Pat Bond, treasurer Bill Hodgson, with committee members Lexley Reinke, Connie Hodgson and John Cooke.
The two retiring members were: committee member Jean Randall and secretary Tricia Sloper.
Pat Bond expressed thanks on behalf of the garden club to both both ladies for all they had done during the time they had served.
In particular, she highlighted Mrs Randall who has been a continuous member of the garden club since its inception and has served on the committee in various capacities.
Mrs Bond brought in an interesting plant to test members’ knowledge, but it was identified as a Euphorbia (Pencil Cactus).
Birthdays celebrated this month were Audrey Cleggett and Anne Havis.
With Mrs Cleggett celebrating her 90th birthday, she was presented with a small posy by John Cooke.
Thanks to Pam Cross and Pat Bond for the wonderful “surprise packages” for all members; small watering cans filled with lots of interesting booklets and local information on flora and fauna.
A considerable amount of time and effort must have gone into gathering and putting these together and is greatly appreciated.
Next meeting: On Monday, March 4 we will visit three gardens in Tanunda.
We will car pool from the church at 1pm or for anyone wanting to go directly to Tanunda you will need to be at the first property by 1:20pm for a1:30pm start. The address is 10 Bridge Street, Tanunda.
It was suggested that we bring our own afternoon tea.
