Member for Schubert Stephan Knoll believes January 26 is one of the most important dates on the calendar.
“Australia Day is such an important day on the Australian calendar,” he said.
“It is a day to celebrate where we are as a country and to remember where we have come from.”
“Our lifestyle and standard of living are the envy of the world, our cities are rated among the globe’s most liveable, we are free, democratic and safe.”
“We shouldn’t forget our history or our past mistakes, but we are mature enough as a nation to acknowledge that and still see the enormity of all that we have achieved.”
“This Australia Day I will be celebrating the achievements of the most civic minded in the community by attending my local Australia Day breakfast in Tanunda, and I encourage all Australians to do the same.”
The Barossa Council’s Australia Day Community Breakfast and awards ceremony will be held at the Tanunda Show Hall from 8.30am on Saturday, January 26.
Tickets to the free breakfast are available from the Nuriootpa Council office and all branch offices/libraries.
Monday, January 28 will be an observed public holiday.
