Greenock took out the award for Best Dressed Town in last week’s Women’s Tour Down Under race through the Barossa.
The winner of the Best Dressed Commercial property was awarded to Ballycroft Wines.
The Greenock-based winery’s display was descibed by Tour Down Under officials as “a quaint, provincial roadside activation” and “capturing what it means to have a UCI WorldTour race travelling through the Barossa.”
The display featured dried vine cuttings to create a bike, and a table showcasing local Greenock produce.
“For one of the Barossa’s smaller towns, it was great to see establishments in the town get behind having the women’s peloton come through, with Santos bunting and decorated bikes on show,” SANTOS Tour Down Under announced.
Held each year in January during the Santos Tour Down Under, the Santos Best Dressed Town is open to all towns, schools, businesses and households along the race route.
Prizes are awarded throughout the two week long race event; from Ziptrak Stage 1 women’s through to the Be Safe Be Seen Stage 6 Men’s TDU.
Barossa towns will once again have a change to take out a prize when the Men’s TDU race cycles through many barossa towns on Wednesday January 16.
