Worthy recipients recognised in SA community awards

A number of South Australians were recognised for their contributions to their work, community and state at the 2018 Community Achievement Awards last week.

The winners were announced at a gala presentation in Adelaide on Friday, November 2, which was hosted by news presenter Jessica Adamson.

More than 500 guests, including State Minister for Industry and Skills David Pisoni congratulated the 10 category winners who received $2000 each as well as a trophy. 

The Community Choice Award was taken out by Peter Taylor, from the West Beach Surf Life Saving Club who received two tickets to a ‘superbox’ at Adelaide Oval.

Almost 300 nominations were received over the categories from across South Australia.

The winners are:

  • • Katherine Height of Mount Gambier - Carers SA Carer Achievement Award
  • • Coorong Healthy Highways Program - Flinders Foundation Leadership and Innovation in Health Award
  • • Whyalla Ripples Support Group - Flinders University Rural Health SA Regional Achievement Award
  • • City of West Torrens Road Safety Group - Jones Harley Toole Community Road Safety Award
  • • Chooks Little Winery Tours of Willunga - Minister for Industry and Skills Small Business Award
  • • Leighton Wilksch of Paskeville - Prime Super Agricultural Innovation Award
  • • Pennwood Village of Pennington - Prime Super Employer Excellence in Aged Care Award
  • • Rachel Lawrie of Adelaide - Ricoh Australia Customer Service Award
  • • Streaky Bay & District Medical Clinic Inc. Board - Rural Doctors Workforce Agency Rural Community Health and Wellbeing Award
  • • Tatiara Work Centre Inc. - TAFE SA Connecting Communities Award
