Tanunda Magpie Chatter | 1st Semi Final

It was do or die this week for the reserves who were switched on right from the first bounce.

The second quarter was all one way traffic with a solid contribution by all.

The boys soon worked it out and kicked away impressively.

They continued their dominance for the rest of the game and although we had some wasteful entries into our forward line it was a super impressive performance from the entire team.

Ryan Owen played his best game for the season with a great four quarter effort and had the ball on a string all day.

He was well supported in the middle with with Billy Wells strong in ruck and around the ground.

The mid field was super impressive and the forwards supported them all day spreading the goal kicking load.

Having six individual goal kickers was testament to how we need to continue to play our footy.

Tom Falkenberg finished with four majors.

We have earned a week’s rest, now on to the Preliminary Final at Angaston.

Under 15s

The first Semi Final vs Willaston brings the year to an end for the Under 15s.

Even after being successful over Willaston both match-ups during the season, it was evident that the opposition was coming in with a strong side and only had one objective.

The Magpie boys were under the pump from the start and unfortunately it didn’t let up.

Plain and simple they were outplayed on the day.

While this may have been a disappointing result it certainly wasn’t a disappointing season.

The boys have developed immensely over the season and have given plenty of highlights to be proud of.

They have matched it with the best teams in the competition and shown a great amount of passion for the game.

Finishing top four is a stellar effort and even getting to play one finals round is an achievement in itself and a great experience especially for the younger lads.

The clubs ethos is “PRIDE – PASSION – RESPECT” and that’s exactly what was displayed by these lads.

The focus turns to this weeks 2nd Semi Finals @ South Gawler, with the Under 17’s and A-Grade both playing for Grand Final spots.

We want to see many Black & White supporters this Saturday cheering on both teams, with the Under 17’s game starting at 10.50am and the A-Grade at 2.20pm.
