Two cattle producers from the Barossa took home their section’s highest honours at the Gawler Show on the weekend.
The award for Grand Champion Bull went to Amerable Park at Nuriootpa and the Grand Champion Female was from Walmona Santa Gertrudis in Truro.
Organiser of the Cattle Section Lauren Jakeway said this year’s showing was their strongest one yet.
“It went really well,” Ms Jakeway said.
“We actually had a record number of cattle on-site this year, with around 70 heads.”
Cattle are judged on a series of criteria including the animal’s structure, weight distribution, and gender specific traits.
The cattle are purebred and compete in competitions throughout South Australia.
