The Town of Gawler is calling on young budding artists to submit a Christmas drawing or painting to feature on the Council’s official Christmas card as part of their yearly Christmas card competition.

Gawler Mayor Karen Redman is inviting primary school students to draw or paint a Christmas scene that they feel reflects what Christmas means to them.

“Competition winners will receive gift vouchers and Gawler Books will also provide a bundle of books to each participating school. I love our community spirit,” said Mayor Redman.

There are three separate categories for the competition – a reception and year 1 category, a years 2 and 3 category, and a years 4 and 5 category.

Council has partnered with Gawler Books to offer three prizes for each of the three categories:

  • First Prize: $100 Gawler Bookshop voucher
  • Second Prize: $75 Gawler Bookshop voucher
  • Third Prize: $50 Gawler Bookshop voucher

“The winning designs will be the official Council Christmas cards this year, showcasing the artistic talents of our young people in Gawler,” said Mayor Redman.

The winning entries from each category will be printed onto Christmas Cards with the student’s name, year and school printed on the inside of the card.

Winning entries will also be displayed at Council sites throughout the Christmas season. Winning entrants, their parents/care givers, and school representative will be invited to an Awards Ceremony to receive their prize.

Entries close Friday, 28 September 2018. Entrants must be from between reception to year 5, and live or attend a school within the Town of Gawler.
