An energetic work ethic shown by The Rex team to assist its strong supporter base has resulted in awards and accolades received this week.

The Barossa Council owned facility at Tanunda was on Wednesday night named South Australian Facility of the Year at Belgravia Leisure’s awards night.

And the praise for the Barossa Aquatic and Fitness Centre didn’t stop there.

The Rex was further named runner-up for swim school of the year, was a finalist for the community program of the year award for actively engaging the community about water safety, and a finalist for National Facility of the Tear from 165 Belgravia Leisure sites.

Mayor Bob Sloane commended staff, acknowledging the importance of these successes.

“It’s so pleasing to see the hard work that everyone has put in has been rewarded by peers in the industry,” he said.

“The Rex and its strong patronage is testament to the hard work of the staff and council officers who work together to ensure the facility continues to serve the needs and expectations of the growing community.

“To be named South Australian facility of the year is a coup in its own right, but to also be acknowledged on a state level for the success of the swim school and community engagement program around water safety really reinforces that incredible facility we have here.

“Together, council and Belgravia Leisure continue to grow recreational opportunities in the Barossa through initiatives like the 24/7 gym access and ongoing upgrades and improvements to the Rex,” he said.
