On the weekend the A Grade played a competitive and hungry team in Willaston and we were unable to match them for the 4 quarters.
We started well but did not take out chances in front of goal to apply scoreboard pressure. We were not able to maintain pressure around the contest or apply enough defensive pressure to win the low scoring game.
Our better players on the day were AJ Prior, Angus Kurtze and Luke Snowden who competed hard all game.
In what promised to be a physical encounter for the B-Grade lads it sure didn’t disappoint. The Tanunda boys stood tall and kept focused, coming out with the desired result. Ben Biagi was outstanding and played a superb game. Billy Wells did a stellar job standing tall. Let’s hope we can continue our good run of form.
Another great win by a composed Tanunda Under 17 team, taking on Willaston and winning across the ground
Tanunda had a strong start dominating the first half not allowing Willaston to score until half way through the second quarter. Hugh Smart and Riley Westbrook great in defence working well with Isaac Feltus and Aaron Bert’s pace kicking to the tall forward Birchard boys.
The lads game out strong again after half time booting another 5 goal in the second half setting up the win.
A windy day for the Under 15’s but fortunately the rain held off.
A solid start was what was needed and that was exactly what they delivered throughout the first term.
A really good effort into the wind in the second quarter, committing to the contest when needed and using the space when then could gave the magpie boys a nice little gap at the half time break.
The takeaway message is one that they have heard before, there is no time lift the foot off the pedal (especially coming into finals). Willaston had a good crack in the final term but Tanunda dug in and held on for the win. Louie McLennan and Kieren Malone getting a mention for their effort and impact on the game.
It was a great win by the U13’s boys after losing to Willaston in the first round. The boys started slow but certainly played better in the second half to easily take control and win the game.
The midfield played well with Darcy Thompson, Kalan Hoklas and Will McCabe all making an impact through the middle. Harvey Fechner played a great last quarter standing up when needed. Well done boys, great effort and we now look forward to taking on Angaston.
On Friday night the U9 white travelled to Willaston to play under “some light”. It was a great team effort with players passing the ball around and looking for team mates who were on their own.
Thanks to the Black players who got there early to fill in. Awards went to Tyrell Goddard (drink bottle) Riley Samain (Footy club Canteen voucher) Harper Klose, Scarlett Kelly and Lucas Skinner (Beans and Cream vouchers).
Magpie Jackpot raffle was drawn on Sunday afternoon – congratulations to the Alderslade’s (Lindy & Michael), wonder what corner of the world you will travel too. Congrats to other winners too.
Thanks to all who helped make this day a success – selling tickets, prep and help on the day.
This Saturday is the last home game for Tanunda for 2018. Some crucial games that will impact where team could finish in the 2018 finals race.
Come on down to Barossa Ford oval and cheer on the lads.
