Dates are set for 2018 Kapunda Show

With the 2018 Kapunda Show approaching fast, preparations for the 161st event are under way organisers say.

This year’s event runs Friday, October 26 through to Sunday, October 28.

“As we start up our newsletter again for a new show season, we’d like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the exciting events our Kapunda Show committee members and volunteers have been involved in since our 2017 show,” conveners co-ordinator Janet Hazel said.

This includes Kapunda Show 2017 Winner of the Community Event of the Year with organisers honoured during this year’s Australia Day breakfast service held at Roseworthy.

Congratulations also went to Kapunda Show vice president Chris Hutchinson who was named as Northern Shows Association Rural Ambassador for 2018. 

Praise was further extended to Nick Pettigrew for his team’s win at the National Young Farmers Challenge at Sydney Show earlier this year. Nick has been the show’s yard dog convenor in recent years, and was part of the SA YFC team, after winning the state finals at the Royal Adelaide Show last September.

Meanwhile, you can expect all the show highlights, including horse events, agricultural produce, art, wool, photography, beef cattle, yard dogs, dog jumping, cookery, preserves, garden produce, fruit and veg, handicrafts, quilting, goats, pot plants, writing, utes, sheaf tossing.

“Like many community events, volunteers are always welcome,” Mrs Hazel said.

“There are a variety of ways to be involved with Kapunda Show, including stewarding and convening, selling show bags and taking tickets at the gate, just to name a few.”

The newsletter will now be published monthly in the lead up to the 2018 show and will be edited by Sarah Hazel, and available to the public.
