Now is the purr-fect time to adopt a cat according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (RSPCA).
The RSPCA is using today, International Cat Day, as a reminder for people to adopt a feline friend.
There are currently far more cats available for adoption from the RSPCA – with more than 30 cats and kittens currently available in SA compared to only four dogs.
International Cat Day is a global event on August 8 which was first instituted back in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare and is used as a fun way to celebrate our connection with cats.
People are also encouraged to take the day to volunteer at a local cat shelter or donate to an animal welfare charities.
