As a young aspiring journalist, the advice given to me was always to “cut my teeth” as a country journalist.

After googling exactly what “cutting your teeth” meant, I started looking for country work and it is my pleasure to introduce myself as the newest journalist at the Barossa Herald.

I am really looking forward to diving into this opportunity head-first.

I grew up in Glenelg as a beach-rat and attended Cabra Dominican College where I graduated with a love for writing.

I then studied journalism at the University of South Australia, graduating in 2016.

Before joining the Barossa Herald I worked in communications for a state politician, but hopefully you do not hold that against me.

I am most excited about getting to know the gorgeous Barossa and Light area, and the community that lives here.

I have already fallen in love with the rolling hills and the endless vineyards that now surround me.

Unfortunately, my wine knowledge is rudimentary at best but I am looking forward to getting some very ‘hands-on’ experience in this area.

Outside of work, growing up with two older brothers gave me a fierce competitive nature.

It didn’t help that my siblings and I grew up to each be more than 6 feet 5 inches tall.

My parents watched in horror as our food bills grew almost as quickly as we did.

Sport has always been a huge part of my life and I grew up playing basketball, but made the switch to footy three years ago and I have not looked back since.

I currently play footy for the Plympton Bulldogs and after a rough start to the season we are hoping to limp into finals.

I enjoy keeping fit and when I’m not at work you’ll likely to find me at the gym, however I get most of my cardio training chasing stories.

Being new to the area I would love to meet as many new people as possible – please come say hello and visit me at our office on 1/119 Murray Street in Tanunda.

Hopefully I will see you around town, don’t hesitate to introduce yourself.
