Silence from the 900-plus Nuriootpa High School students during their annual Anzac service on Friday afternoon spoke volumes of the pupils’ empathy for Australia’s fallen soldiers.
The service, attend by Nuriootpa RSL members, included footage of World War I and a minute’s silence to mark the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during WWI.
The school’s new principal Kirsty Gebert concluded the service by highlighting the Anzac spirit and importantly – bravery.
Mrs Gebert encouraged students to reflect on their own brave behaviour as they embark on new challenges in school and in their life.
