Last Sunday, Region 4 events manager Ruth Scoot officiated at the State Triples Region 4 finals at Eudunda, with Tony Scoot as umpire.
After the first knockout round in the morning, Eudunda and Waikerie were left to contest the final.
Waikerie’s Wayne Collins, Nathan Cronin and Butch Burnett, together with Jono Voigt, were scraped off the floor of the Waikerie Bowling Club just a few hours before, after winning the Riverland Division 1 Premiership the day before (the first time in 26 years), so full marks to the Waikerie boys to front up for the State Triples Region 4 finals.
Not much sleep was had and the green benefited from all the “fertiliser” being deposited!
However, the final was a display of excellent bowling on good greens, and played in great spirit, much to the delight of the many spectators and supporters.
The outcome was Eudunda’s Jono Voigt, Matthew Jones and Aaron Jones winning 21-16 over Waikerie’s Butch Burnett, Nathan Cronin and Wayne Collins.
Congratulations to Eudunda Triples who will represent Region 4 at the Champions Week State Triples played at Murray Bridge on April 26-29.
