The 10th anniversary of the annual’ Aaron Kimpton Memorial Lawn Bowls Tournament’ was run by the Robertstown Bowling Club with 14 teams entered on Sunday.
This event, referred to as ‘Happy Harry’s Day’, commemorates the passing of Aaron who was tragically killed in a car accident just south of the town in 2008.
Aaron was nicked named “Harry”, as a result of his love for animals and had a lot of “Harry Butler” in him.
During the day several novelty events were run among the three games of eight ends that were played.
Teams were mainly made up of players from Robertstown, Point Pass and Eudunda.
Last year the Menzel family came last and this year they entered two teams as part of their ‘Annual Bowls Championship’ which began many years ago.

This year the tide changed and they scooped the pool again with the number one team winning the tournament and their number two team runner up – both being the only teams winning all three games.
The NABA award was won by a team entered by Eudunda’s Ashley ‘Sooty’ Green .
The team players were: No 1 Team – Dream Team – Murray, Adrian, Jeffrey and Robin Menzel, the No. 2 Team – Consistent Team – Corey Menzel, Brenton Ruciack, Russell Pfitzner and Sean Stoneman, Helen Menzel, reserve and Edna Pfitzner, adviser.
The tournament finished with a tea and presentations where Robin Menzel who thanked everyone for their participation.
“We will be doing the same thing this year, like we did last year, by donating our prize money back to the club, as we play not to win, but by having fun, socialising and renewing a lot of acquaintances with the locals that we knew when the family lived at Point Pass and by winning is a bonus,” she said.
