A car fire erupted at Davies Road, Willaston on Tuesday afternoon.

A Willaston fire – destroying both a car, parked inside a garage, and a garden shed – resulted in about $40,000 in damage on Tuesday afternoon.

At 2.15pm MFS firefighters and three appliances, with support from CFS crews and police, responded to multiple emergency calls of a fire at Davies Road.

A MFS SA spokesperson has since confirmed, “the vehicle’s LPG cylinder pressure release device was activated; the cylinder did not actually explode”.

“On arrival, firefighters set to work fighting the fire which had consumed a vehicle in a garage and was threatening to impact nearby homes,” the spokesperson said.

Crews contained the fire within 15 minutes and remained on site for sometime to ensure all hot spots were thoroughly extinguished.

As a result of the blaze, a male occupant of the property was safely evacuated.

Also, two nearby homes sustained minor heat damage, including melted shade cloth and some scorching to a picket fence and wall.
