A fire which burnt about 15 hectares of grass close to Evanston Park homes yesterday is being treated as suspicious.
Just before 4.30pm on Thursday, January 11, police patrols and MFS and CFS crews were called to a grass fire which started on a vacant block of land adjacent Selway Place.
Three MFS crews were supported by four CFS trucks, as well as two helicopters and four aerial bombers which responded but were not needed as the fire was contained within 30 minutes.
Firefighters were assisted by the public who were quick to begin defending their homes using garden hoses prior to the arrival of fire crews.
No one was injured and there was no damage caused to livestock or property, despite the blaze coming close to a number of residential homes.
Crime Scene investigators attended and while it has not been determined how the fire started, it is being treated as suspicious.
Investigations are continuing and anyone with any information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperssa.com.au.
