Expectant wild weather on Friday and across the weekend won’t deter Barossa Co-op shoppers who can now take relief in the newly open undercover car park at Nuriootpa.

Open for the first time to shoppers early Friday morning, the car park is located in the former Foodland building, which was gutted during the transition to the new Fresh Foodland in October.

The site will support 90-plus parks.

For Angaston’s Trina Ross, who was the first driver to use the space, she thought the idea was “fantastic”.

“I know where to come now,” she said.

Barossa Co-op chairman Phil Schmaal was on standby to welcome Mrs Ross through the under cover park.

Mr Schmaal shared with the Barossa Herald in November how the change will further support the community over the busy Christmas period.

It will also assist shoppers during the extreme heat of summer.
