“Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier,” a Movember Foundation spokesperson said.
“Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Three quarters of suicides are men.”
The top five things for men to do:
- Take time - socialise with mates
- Have open conversations - talk about important issues too
- Know the numbers e.g. chat to your doctor about a prostate check
- Know your testicles - see a GP if you have any concerns
- Move, move, move - walk and exercise more
“We’re the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round,” he said. “We’re addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.”
