The annual Jacob’s Creek Barossa Marathon Festival will be held in Tanunda this Sunday, May 28, with more than 1800 participants set to take part. Organising body South Australian Road Runners Club is excited to return to the region, this time with ambassador, two-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Jessica Trengove.

“Jess has just touched down from a tremendous effort at the London Marathon, not only did she achieve a PB time she placed 10th, ” club president Dave Munro said.

“We are so proud to have Jess as our ambassador and part of the Barossa Marathon.

“Come see Jess run the 10km course, or better yet, why not join in and run with her.”

The event attracts runners from right across the world, wanting to challenge their fitness levels in the marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km), 10km and 5km events.

The course is quite flat, perfect for those wanting a quick time or a personal best.

The course commences at Faith Lutheran College and follows the roads on the outskirts of the scenic vineyard-surrounded Tanunda and loops back with post-race celebrations at the college with festivities for all to enjoy.

Participants can register at the Barossa Marathon website.
