Cheap glasses for disadvantaged

Pensioners, people living with a disability and the unemployed are among those eligible to receive cheap glasses under a new program.

The newly-formed partnership between the government and Optometry SA, called Glasses SA, will see those eligible pay a maximum of $25 for glasses with single vision lenses, and $50 for bi-focal.  

The program offers new glasses for those eligible, including children, every three years.

Optometrists statewide have been invited to join in the program,
