Kapunda Musical Society presents 'The Sleeping Beauties'

Talented writer, director and all-rounder Jennette Mickan this month brings Kapunda Musical Society’s latest works to life with ‘The Sleeping Beauties’.

According to a review by Amanda Mattner, the scene will be set in the quaint Chapel Theatre setting, allowing audiences to be transported to a magical faraway land.

There will be princes, princesses, queens and jesters, plus a a magic mirror, charming townsfolk, dwarfs, Robin Hood and the charismatic Puss in Boots to complete the picture.

It’s a tale of royalty and villagers whose once peaceful hamlet of Kapunda is disturbed by mysterious events of things gone awry - the villagers blame the imposing and commanding queen.

Or is the arrival of mysterious newcomers Robin Hood and Puss In Boots responsible for the chaos?

Why can’t the princes’ charms rouse the sleeping princesses from their deep sleep?

And will order ever be restored to the village?

This interactive performance is filled with humour, familiar toe-tapping tunes, adventure and fun.

From the enchanting opening scene, to the comical story line, the lively mix of characters and plenty of action this is community theatre at its best.

With standout performances from Chris Starkey as the queen, Michelle Schupelius as the jester and Ella Mickan as Puss In Boots; the entire cast and crew are successful in delivering a professional, high quality production that will captivate audiences of all ages.

“It was awesome, hilarious” Abbey, age 10, said.

“Full of comedy, adventure and fun. Five out of five stars” - Lewis, age 14, added.

This witty and entertaining pantomime is not to be missed.
