Families across the region are encouraged to take relief from the heat this summer by heading to their nearest public pool.

The Kapunda Swimming Pool, which opened in late October, is one facility already attracting plenty of patrons during the past few high temperature days.

According to a management spokesperson, the grounds have been lovingly manicured by hard-working volunteers.

“The filtration and chlorination system has had an overhaul making the water quality clear, clean and ideal for swimming,” he said.

Management also gratefully acknowledges the financial support of Light Regional Council to help meet the day-to-day running costs of the pool.

“This is an important community facility – one which requires a significant financial commitment to keep operational.

“Without the support of Council, it would not continue to remain open,” he said.

The Kapunda Swimming Pool is managed by a committee of volunteers who ensure that the pool is a safe and enjoyable recreation place for all to visit.

In addition to the improvements to the filtration plant, the solar water heating equipment has also had modifications, which means that the water temperature will be warmer this season than in previous years.

However, management is keen to install a new solar water heating system to enable a constant 24-degree temperature.

This will enhance the enjoyment for all swimmers as well as prolong the swimming season.

“In order to achieve this goal, $20,000 needs to be raised. It is hoped that this can be achieved through the ‘Fund My Neighbourhood’ Grant Scheme,” he said.

Patrons are encouraged to register their vote by visiting their Facebook page.
