Tanunda Primary School will play on centre court at Memorial Drive in a curtain-raiser match for the World Tennis Challenge in January.
The local school earned the opportunity after making the grand final of the 2017 ANZ Tennis Hot Shots South Australian schools state championships.
Coach Steve Lubcke said the group of eight year four and five students lost the grand final, but performed well against seven other schools from around South Australia.
“It was excellent – the kids did very well,” he said.
“The kids are very excited to go down (to Adelaide) in January.”
Tanunda made its way through to the state final after winning the regional final against Nuriootpa earlier in the year.
Lubcke said only half of the students in the Tanunda Primary team play tennis competitively.
The ANZ Tennis Hot Shots schools state competition is run in conjunction with the South Australian Primary School Amateur Sports Association (SAPSASA) and offers a pathway for students to participate in tennis at school.
The competition encourages tennis participation, grows friendships and gives students the opportunity to represent their school in a team environment.
