On Friday, September 8, the Mount Pleasant Primary School SRC organised Pet Day for the students and staff to raise money for the Animal Welfare League.

The SRC set up a donation box and collected donations of towels, blankets, toys and treats for the abandoned and homeless pets at the AWL shelter.

The day began with a pet parade that included pets from lizards to lambs.

After the parade students could have their photos taken with pets in the photo booth for a gold coin donation. They could also guess the number of spots on the Dalmatian for a prize.

Finally, the day included two guest speakers.

The first guest speaker was Sarah and her dog Charlie from the Responsible Pet Ownership Program.

Sarah spoke to the students about being responsible pet owners, how to be safe around dogs and how to approach dogs safely.

They also enjoyed an interesting presentation from Senior Constable Lawton who brought his trainee dog Ash and police dog Rebel.
