Nuriootpa resident and one-eyed Adelaide Crows fan Sadie Aird was over the moon to meet her favourite players.
Sadie, 7, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in October last year, was thrilled to rub shoulders with the Crows at a recent training session.
“(Sadie) said it was good fun and the players she enjoyed meeting most were, in order, Eddie Betts, Tom Lynch, Mitch McGovern and Richard Douglas,” her dad Damien said.
Although a problem appendix got in the way of Sadie meeting one of her idols.
“She wishes Rory Sloane hadn’t been in hospital though because he’s her favourite player,” Damien said.
Locally, former Nuriootpa footballer Damien said the support Sadie has received from the community has been nothing short of overwhelming.
“The (Nuriootpa) netball, football and cricket clubs have been fantastic – they put on a fundraiser as soon as she was diagnosed,” he said.
