There’s no excuse when it comes to sourcing the finest dining experiences within the region especially after several outlets were awarded under the Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence last week.
The impressive line up included restaurant accolades presented to The South Australian Company Store in Angaston for best breakfast restaurant – regional, St Hugo in Rowland Flat – new restaurant – regional, Hentley Farm Restaurant and Winery in Seppeltsfield for restaurant in a winery, Cafe Sia Gawler in Evanston –cafe dining regional and Fasta Pasta in Gawler – family dining.
In addition, hospitality awards were presented to Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre – safety award, plus Negociants Australia and Samuel Smith and Son – product supplier
For new comers to the dining scene St Hugo, the award means highlighting their commitment to hard work.
According to brand experience manager Eileen Low, the restaurant only opened in September last year, “so we are extremely proud that while we are young we are already providing consistency”.
“We are also proud this restaurant provides another tourists with another great local dining experience,” she added.
In Gawler, Cafe Sia managed to score their third award win leaving the team ecstatic.
“We are so proud and honoured to have won a hat-trick of awards at this prestigious hospitality event,” co-owner Gaby Haidar, who runs the café with his brother Danny said.
The Awards for Excellence program formally recognises hospitality operators across a broad range of categories who consistently provide exceptional service and demonstrate culinary excellence in their respective fields. Australia CEO Juliana Payne who attended the event held at the Adelaide Convention Centre congratulated each of the finalists and winners of the awards.
“On behalf of the Association, it is my great pleasure to congratulate the individual winners of the 2017 Awards for Excellence in South Australia,” she said.
“The awards provide well-deserved recognition to those individuals who have made an indelible mark on South Australia’s culinary scene and have well and truly put the State on the map as far as culinary excellence is concerned.
“Put simply, there is no industry without the many restaurateurs, café owners and caterers who work incredibly hard with their teams to deliver an outstanding culinary experience for thousands of customers walking through the door each year.
Winners will compete at the national awards for excellence in Melbourne on Monday, October 30.
