Gawler man wins $1 million

A hardworking Gawler man in his 60s has awoken to discover he became a millionaire overnight from winning division one in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto.

The happy man admitted he was “flabbergasted” when an SA Lotteries official broke the news to him, declaring he would need time for the win to truly sink in.

The man was the only South Australian division one winner from Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 3670 on Monday, June 19.

He was one of three division one winners from the draw nationally, with each taking home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.

“It’s just terrific! This news is worth getting up for!” the man said this morning.

“I’ve been playing for years but I’ve never won anything more than $70.

“I’m still a bit flabbergasted. It’s unbelievable. It’s blown me away a bit. I can’t think at the moment.”

With news of the win still sinking in, the man admitted he wasn’t sure how he would spend his million-dollar windfall.

“I won’t believe it until I see it in the bank!” he joked.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet, but it might speed up my retirement plans!”

Gawler Green Newsagency owner Barry Humphries said his outlet was celebrating selling its first division one winning entry.

“It’s just fantastic news! It’s great to think that the win has landed in Gawler and that one of our customers is now a millionaire!” he said.

“It’s our first division one win for the store and hopefully the start of many more to come.

“Congratulations to the winner! I hope they enjoy being a millionaire and enjoy their windfall!”

Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 3670 – one each in SA, the ACT and Victoria.
