Irish superstar Frank Kelly is the first entry in the South Australian round of the CAMS Australian Rally Championship to be held at the Mount Pleasant and Mount Crawford on September 15 to 17.
Kelly is well known to rally fans around the world thanks to YouTube videos of his impressive performances in a Ford Escort Mk2, and will be one of the drawcard entries in the September event.
Rally clerk of the course Ivar Stanelis was upbeat about the announcement of Kelly’s attendance.
“I am truly delighted to receive this as a first entry and believe it will provide a real boost to our national and state championship, and to Lightforce Rally SA,” he said.
“This kind of support is very welcome, and will be a boon for all our fans.
“I can’t wait to see them in action in the famous Barossa Valley in September and I think motor sport enthusiasts will come from far and wide.”
Kelly has raced in New Zealand and will have support from South Australian businesses for his racing in the championships series.
“I am happy that we have been able to realise this and in doing so, continue our support of classic rallying.
