The Power Supporters Country SA Group is growing, and is proving to be a hit in the Barossa as it signs up members ahead of an August cavalcade.
Group committee member Paolino Tomaiuolo said the idea stemmed after a desire to give back to the country Power fans.
“I’ve been involved with the marches with all the other supporter groups,” he said.
“This idea was to interact with our country supporters, to give them something back and show them what they’ve been missing out on.
“I’ve never thought in my wildest dreams that we could grow to such an extent.”
The current tally of the group is sitting at around 2500 members, and is still growing, but the movement in the Barossa and Gawler areas is building steadily.
“It’s been slow, but it’s building,” Mr Tomaiuolo said.
“We signed up almost 300 people at Kadina last time we were there.”
However, with some community help, he said that locals have embraced the group.
“It’s a ‘Crows area’ primarily up here, but we’ve got Tanunda Football Club supporting us, and the community’s really embraced us up here,” he said.
Supporters can sign up with a supporters form on the group’s Facebook page, with benefits such as cheaper parking and meals.
The supporters cavalcade is set to come through the Barossa in August, when Port Adelaide takes on Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval.
It will visit Elizabeth, the Riverland, Gawler and the Barossa on its way, while receiving a police escort.
