Tammy Schutz has won the title of Barossa’s Undiscovered Baking Legend in a competition run by Barossa’s Yellow Pages and White Pages directory.
The prize: Ms Schutz and her sons will feature on the cover of this year’s directory, alongside her winning rote grütze recipe.
Ms Schutz, a member of the Tanunda night branch of the SA Country Women’s Association, was nominated for the honour by a friend.
“I was very surprised and totally thrilled to be chosen as Barossa’s Undiscovered Baking Legend,” she said.
“Being raised on a vineyard property, this generational family recipe is a favourite in the autumn.
“The Barossa’s food heritage is unique and I try to pass this knowledge onto my food loving boys so it will continue into the future.”
SACWA president Linda Bertman said the powerful thing about food was its ability to unite people.
“To have the opportunity to showcase some of our members and their amazing baking delights on the covers of the Yellow Pages and White Pages books, along with details of our recent work is an incredibly exciting thing,” she said.
The 2017-18 directory featuring Ms Schutz will be distributed from April 22.
